Fingerprint-Sensor Door Opener
Let me in
I never lost my wallet. Or my phone. Or my keys. But I once left my apartment to get the mail and locked myself out. That was awkward. After that I was thinking about, what I could do to never let this happens again. What do I need, to get back into my apartment, when the only thing I'm having on me are my PJ and my body? This was more as a proof of concept. I came up with a concept of having a Fingerprint-Reader on the outside of my Door with a flex rebbon cable going inside. On the inside I can verify the I²C Data coming from the sensor and actuate a Servo Motor to pull open the handle of the door. There are several security (by obscurity) mechanics inside this projects that are the reason I do not publish this model. There is intrusion detection when someone tries to open the housing from the fingerprint sensor in 3 ways that again triggers an alarm and a lock down function. There are also various setups inside the software to interact with an App to remotely monitor the state of the system and trigger the system on demand. There was also an attachment with a piezo buzzer to unlock the door based on knocking signals. I can not disclose what exactly is going on or is currently enabled as long I live here, but maybe this can give you some ideas on your own. I managed to install all these attachments in an non-intrusive way, as this is just a rented apartment and I could not make any destructive changes to the substance so I had to came up with various ways on latching on to things without them damaging the door.
