HD Sunhood

Fast Release Magnetic Field Monitor Sunhood — compatible with smallHD 7"

The Darkmode for Video Production

My biggest pet peeve about Field Monitors is that they not always come with a decent sunhood. My second biggest is, that they can either not be applied quickly or be reversed (when using the monitor upside down). When I bought the smallHD 7", I didn't even bothered to look up for the official sunhood but went straight to to designing my own. The result can be seen here.

I designed the sunhood in 3 parts. The first part is a slim frame, that can be attached to the device itself and does not ever need to come off. It protects the edges of the device and is not too bulky to be annoying. The second part os the sunhood, that is exactly my type (beautiful and deep) and can be extended on the top for the 5% of times, when its needed. It is also detachable from the frame, as it is only hold down by strong magnets. this is an important function, as it gives you still the ability to use the touchscreen without unscrewing anything. Just pull the sunhood aside and make your changes and hop it back on. It can also be rotate, when using the monitor upside down. This is possible because of strategic placing of the magnets, so they don't repel each other in the two positions.

The third and last part of the design is the rigging that protects the backside of the device where the battery is mounted. You are still able to quickly change the battery without the rigging getting in your way. The rigging as well as the frame has all the additional threaded insert, as you expect from my designs, so you can mount additional things to it (setmarks, remote, lists, etc.) I also gave the design an option for a handle, the carry the whole device. Neat!

If you look for a price sensitive solution for your smallHD7, look no further.
