Worklight

Light. Bright. Never enough.

When it comes to working on your desk, you often need a lot of light and it sometimes feels like poking around in the dark until you realize that all you were missing was the correct amount of light. If you browse through my catalog, you might noticed that a couple of my models are related to the topic of light. I really need a lot of light. Light. LIGHT! Not only bright light but adjustable light. This model is not different to that idea.
As with most models it started off with an idea I had when I found a heatsink on ebay and wondered if this could be a good part for a worklight I had in mind for quite some time. I wanted to build a light that is based on my favorite LED Strips, can be adjusted to any height and is also adjustable in brightness. Normaly lights come from a long boom from the side reaching over the whole desk. But it is very impractical when you working on small things and have a very specific demand in certain applications. I worked previously with some magic arms I found quite useful. I wanted a light attached to such a magic arm with my type of LED strip that I always use. The result is the one you can see above and below.
The possibility for you to recreate this light are slim as the heatsink as the main heat distributing part was a custom part. I was able to buy two pieces to build this worklight. The other parts are mostly from stock. So you might not be able to create an exact copy of this light, but you can find maybe a different heatsink and alter the model to your needs. Send me a picture if you really came up with an alternative approach. i would love to see what you did!
